keloid-scarWhen comparing keloid scars to  acne scars we have quite a few people that have asked for more information regarding the cream that is used for raises scars. Many people want to know if it is the same cream that will be used for acne scars or surgery scars. The answer is no for acne scars unless the scars turn into or unless they begin to raise and become hypertrophic scars.

The main ingredient used for keloids is designed to eat away at the growth part of the scar as well as it has ingredients that help to correct the color appearance of the skin (the color can often become much darker and pinker than tradtional skin color). The cream also uses peptides and healing oils to correct the actual scar part of the skin – where the tear occured originally.  The acne scar cream is more focused on healing skin but also on evening out the skin. Many acne scars become indented and this indention makes this very tough to even out the skin. The scar must first be smoothed out. This is typically done with a two part scar cream process. The first part uses microderm particles to rub down the highest levels of the skin. The second cream focuses on the healing of the torn skin that occurs at a deep level with acne. These two together work very well. We like to microderm abrasion cream over the dermatology treatments because you can control the pressure. We often hear of further scarring from dermatalogical microderm treatments because they are so roough on skin that is already damaged.
